Polson Docks – Fishing For Lake Trout With Breakfast Sausage
Distance from Mt. Forge: 10 minutes
One time we decided to take our dog Forge to Sacajawea Park in Polson for sunset. As we were walking out the docks on Flathead Lake Forge all of a sudden found a maple breakfast sausage on the ground and started eating it. We were really confused as to why their was raw sausage randomly laying on the docks here.
When we went to Zimmer Tackle to get some information on fishing, Dick Zimmer recommended we use a sausage rig with maple breakfast sausage to catch Lake Trout. He said they were biting off of the Polson Docks a ton, and it all made sense. We went to the grocery store, bought a 6 pack of Western Cider and a pack of maple breakfast sausage. The cashier looked at us and said “Going fishing?” It was then we realized that this was not a secret. Fishing for Macks with breakfast sausage is the way to go in Polson. They even have a program call Mack Days where you can earn cash prizes for catching Lake Trout.
